Creating Instructional Video:Flipped Classroom

Greetings everyone! Today, me and my friend Gunes have prepared a Flipped Classroom for you. First of all, let’s start with what is the Flipped Classroom Approach. The Flipped Classroom is a teaching approach in which traditional teaching techniques are reversed. The material is presented to students through videos, texts, or other online resources in advance. The classroom time is devoted to active learning activities such as group discussions, problem-solving and collaborative tasks. If we talk about the advantages of Flipped Classroom Approach, it gives students more time for speaking, listening and group projects, and also, it enables students to practicing real-world communication or writing creatively. However, The Flipped Classroom Approach also has its disadvantages. For example, not all students may have an internet access or devices, and also, ıf the materials are not well-designed, students may struggle to understand the content. Despite these, if we come to the Flipped Classroom we created, I would like to talk about the "Comparatives and Superlatives Flipped Classroom" that we chose for high school prep-students. First of all, we taught grammar and the target adjectives to students inductively by telling stories in the beginning of the video. Then, we continued with the fill in the blanks activity and helped them see the comparative and superlative forms of the same adjectives in written sentences. As the last activity, we did a flashcards activity and had them visually interpret the adjectives as written on the back as whether they are correct or not. We used Wordwall for the flashcards, Canva for the worksheet, Zoom while shooting the videos, and Adobe Premiere Pro to combine the videos. While we were together during the shooting, I can only say that we had difficulty choosing the place to shoot the video.
